This is a tough one. The pizza was pretty awesome and the staff somewhat fast and reliable. But damn does it take long to make one pizza. We've been there in a Saturday evening (20:30) so pretty early for Italian standard...and it was already pretty crowded, but not 100% full, I'd say around 60-70%. We had to wait around an hour for our pizza - which was great so mentioned before. As we left the restaurant, at least 15 people have been waiting outside. I don't want to know when they had been able to eat their pizza...
I got the Ciccio Fassona which had straciatella truffle sauce slathered on black angus tartare, cardoncella mushrooms and semi-dried cherry tomatoes. It was amazing and I will be back to try more pizza before I leave Giovinazzo. EDIT: I had a chance to try the Maremurgia pizza which was just as delicious as the last one. This one had a Purple Potato Sauce with Octopus, Pork Cheek and Mozarella cheese on top 👌
Such an incredible experience! Beautiful outdoor sitting area, incredible food (pizza and pasta are to die for), extremely reasonable prices and such a kind and lovely staff. I cannot recommend this place enough, I will be telling all my friends to come to Puglia and make their way here. The staff and the managers were so kind, they’re even organised a taxi for us to get back to the hotel since there is unfortunately no taxi company in Giovinazzo. Me and my friend really appreciate the way we were taken care of. Do not think twice, best place for authentic Italian pizza and pasta! Thank you :)
We will always go there. It is a hidden gem. Inside there is a garden and the interior is full of roasters :) The pizza delicious. The salads amazing. The tiramisu so light and tasty. And the service is so friendly. Last night we had dinner and we asked one of the waiters to book us a taxi. He said they will charge us too much because of the late hour and because they have to come from Bari since there were no available taxis in Giovinazzo, so the guy dropped us to our hotel without any charge. What a service! Thank you!
Finding a place like Al Cantagallo in Giovinazzo was a real gem. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The pizza was perfectly crisp with that authentic wood-fired flavor. But the real stars were the calamari and shrimps – crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, cooked to perfection. The seaside setting added a magical touch, with a fresh breeze and a calm, relaxed vibe. Service was fast and friendly, and the quality-to-price ratio was spot on. If you’re in Giovinazzo, don’t miss this place – it’s a must-try! 👌🍕🦐🌊
